Help now

Help for men going through it

Men are less likely to ask for help and more likely to die by suicide. Asking is the strong move. Every line below is free and confidential.

In danger right now, call 911.

Suicide and crisis line: call or text 988, 24/7. Veterans: dial 988, then press 1, or text 838255.

Drinking or drugs

The SAMHSA National Helpline connects you to local treatment and support groups, 24/7, in English and Spanish: 1-800-662-4357.

Being a dad

The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse helps dads with parenting, custody questions and local programs: 1-877-432-3411, or fatherhood.gov.

Bills, food, housing, jobs

Call or text 211 anywhere in the U.S. for local help with rent, utilities, food and job programs, or search 211.org.

Abuse happens to men too

If someone at home hurts, threatens or controls you, the National Domestic Violence Hotline helps men as well: 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788.

If a friend is not okay: ask him directly whether he is thinking about suicide. Asking does not put the idea in his head. Stay with him, and call or text 988 together.
